Yoga Nidra means yogic sleep in Sanskrit which describes the state of being in between asleep and awake. It is here that your mind can relax and heal by accessing the subconscious while being aware of it at the same time.
You are placed in yoga Nidra by going through layers of guided meditations that goes deeper and deeper into the subconscious where trauma, emotional and physical pain, as well as longing desires hide from the conscious mind.
This practice has the power to stop harmful habits and create new ways of living and thinking by rewiring neurons in the brain. However, it is up to you to create this transformation from within using a sankalpa, a strong intention that acts as a seed that grows from the subconscious.
The goal of yoga Nidra is different for everyone and can change overtime as it is used for everything, from stress relief to healing chronic pain. Consistency and intention are the keys to a successful yoga Nidra. So, practicing the same sankalpa overtime is recommended. Practices can also be adjusted slightly per your intention or goal. You do not have to reveal your sankalpa to me but understanding your situation is helpful to make a customized yoga Nidra session for you.
